Grade 4

Grade 4 students embark on learning designed to meet the Maine learning results, build a solid base for the skills and concepts necessary to grow and succeed in up coming grade levels. Teachers may use supplementary materials and have enhanced learning opportunities beyond those listed here.

ELA: Grade 4 students will be using the Units of Study for Grade 4from Teachers College to move from foundational skills in reading to a further mastery of comprehension and fluency. In addition, The focus for reading and writing is on the workshop model, allowing for direct, personalized instruction in small groups. Students will address different genres of reading and writing with access to a range of texts.

** Molly Ockett Grade 4 is piloting “Into Reading” this year with units including What Makes Us Who We Are?

Math: MSAD 72 Adopted the I-Ready Math program for K-8 Math. the concepts covered in Grade 4 include: Whole Numbers, factors, Muli-Step Problems, Fractions, Decimals and Measurement, Geometry and Measurement

Science: Grade 4 teachers have access to Mystery Science Curriculum. They may however, utilize enhanced learning opportunities or integrate lessons with other content areas as well.

Grade 4 concepts include : Human Machine, Plant and Animal Adaptations, Brth of Rocks, Waves of Sound.

The units here cover more Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). than are required by the Maine learning Results.
