Maine School Administrative District No. 72 25 MOLLY OCKETT DRIVE, SUITE 10 FRYEBURG, MAINE 04037 (Phone) 935-2600 (Fax) 935-3787 Jay Robinson Brownfield, Denmark, Fryeburg Superintendent of School Lovell, Stoneham, Stow, Sweden March 14, 2020 Dear MSAD 72 School Community: After conversations today with the Commissioner of Education and superintendents across the state, I have determined that the best path forward in dealing with the Coronavirus threat is to close our schools for a minimum of two weeks starting Monday, March 16th. While I realize that this will have a significant impact upon students and families, I believe that this has the best chance of minimizing the drastic effects of a potential community-based mass infection. The administrative team is going to meet tomorrow and send out additional information at that time, but I wanted you to be aware of this decision as soon as possible. Our teachers will be meeting on Monday and working to create plans so that students can have learning opportunities at home. The administration will discuss methods of providing students and parents safe access to schools to secure those materials and will let everyone know once we have done so. We will also be exploring options of continuing to provide food to families who are currently receiving free-and-reduced lunch. In the days ahead, we will try to be a resource to families in the district and will happily try to answer any questions that you have about supporting your child’s education at home. If you feel we might be of assistance, please find contact information at our district website (www.msad72.org). Thanks for your support in these challenging times. Sincerely, Jay Robinson Superintendent of Schools MSAD 72 |
